Flexitime is a variable work schedule, in contrast to traditional work arrangements requiring employees to work a standard 9am to 5pm day.
Under flexitime, there is typically a core period (of approximately 50% of total working time/working day) of the day when employees are expected to be at work (for example, between 11 am and 3pm), whilst the rest of the working day is "flexitime", in which employees can choose when they work, subject to achieving total daily, weekly or monthly hours in the region of what the employer expects, and subject to the necessary work being done.
A flexitime policy allows staff to determine when they will work, while a flexplace policy allows staff to determine where they will work.
Flexi time in the UK
In the United Kingdom, flexitime working is commonplace in both the private and public sectors. The practice is often found in administrative and back office functions of commercial organisations and local councils.
Recording flexi time working
There are many different methods used for recording working time ranging from sophisticated Time & Attendance software to handwritten time sheets. Most of these methods are associated with the payment of wages in return for hours worked.
The Bodet Kelio range of systems are designed to handle flexitime easily.
Biometric verification is any means by which a person can be uniquely identified by evaluating one or more distinguishing biological traits. Unique identifiers include fingerprints, hand geometry, earlobe geometry, retina and iris patterns, voice waves, DNA, and signatures. The oldest form of biometric verification is fingerprinting.
Biometric verification has advanced considerably with the advent of computerized systems, allowing for almost instantaneous personal identification
Fingerprint Terminal
A fingerprint terminal is provided for use in the real time recording of an impression of a fingerprint pattern. The user puts his finger on the terminal. A sensor captures fingerprint and compare it against a stored profile.
Advantages:
Each person’s fingerprints are unique and remain the same throughout a person’s life. Two level of verification using fingerprint only or PIN followed by fingerprint.
Disadvantages:
Less tolerant to cuts, dirt and wet fingers
Hand Scan Terminal
The hand scan terminal captures a three-dimensional image fo the hand each time an employee punches. The hand's size and the shape are used to verify their identity with unparalled accuracy.
No fingerprints or palm prints are utilised. Green and red lights help create the perfect guide to each employee punch.
Advantages:
Each person’s fingerprints are unique and remain the same throughout a person’s life. Two level of verification using fingerprint only or PIN followed by fingerprint.
